Using Date Ranges for Comparison in Google Analytics

March 12, 2008

When it comes to trending data in Google Analytics I am fascinated at how robust the functionality of this application really is. You can really analyse anything on your website that can be measured and it makes sense that more businesses do this because the tools are there and in order to grow your business you need to analyse and see its pulse to make good decisions. The same principle holds true on a web-based business. So how easy is it to view and compare data in Google Analytics? Let me show you…

  1. Log into your Google Analytics account
  2. Click the down arrow of the Date Range at the top right hand side of Google Analytics Dashboard
  3. Select “Date Range” from the Comparison field which will generate a second date range field that you can apply
  4. When you are finished selecting your two date ranges click the “Apply” button and get ready to view the data and start building your website’s trends.

When you are comparing and viewing patterns in your website’s traffic is one key in developing customer insights that will allow you to understand how your customers behave when using or viewing your website.
