Different WordPress Administration Themes
March 30, 2007
I am sure that enough people out there know about WordPress Themes but I wanted to shed some light on a few of the Administration Themes that are being produced lately. You may be asking “Why should I load an administration theme to my WordPress CMS?” The truth is that these adminstration themes give you a better layout of where and how to find things when you are publishing and managing articles and content in general.
OrderedList’s WordPress Tiger Administration Theme - Click here to get it
I’ve been using this theme over at my CommerceCubes site for a few months since I first heard of it. I found it a little bulky and it didn’t really simplify the WordPress Administration very much. In fact, I couldn’t see the hype in loading this WordPress Administration Theme so I decided to just remove it after a while.
AvalonStar WordPress Administration Theme - Wish i could get it
I am having trouble getting a hold of this WordPress Administration Theme but I’d love to test it out after screen shots I’ve seen of it. Bryan Veloso is the creator of this WordPress Admin Theme but if you go to the AvalonStar site these days there is a letter from his girl friend that while it does not explain the specifics of what is happening currently is interesting none the less. To Bryan, I hope that you get it all sorted out and we look forward to seeing more from you in the future.
CeprixConception’s SpotMilk WordPress Admin Theme - Click here to get it
This theme has been around for nearly the past 2 years. It is modelled after MAC’s OSX which leaves it with a nice, simple and overall clean look to it. If you are looking to break up the current look of your WordPress Administration Center then this is always a good option.
If you’ve got any other WordPress Administration Themes that you use and want others to know about then post them below because people always like to have different options to test and try out.

Creating an SEO Plan for your Site
March 27, 2007

Lately I’ve been reading Search Engine Optimization: An hour a day. To those of you that are new to SEO (Search Engine Optimization) you may be thinking that it is too complex or hard to do but the authors of this book took the time to design a simple and straight forward plan for you to plan out your site in terms of SEO.
The site that accompanies the book I’ve been reading is YourSEOPlan.com which is loaded with excellent resources. The one that I wanted to point out to you today is their Goals Worksheet which gives even a beginner the basic tools and ideas to start forming an SEO plan for their website. If you are seriously interested in performing SEO on your site then you may want to stop into your local Chapters (Yes I am Canadian) or Barnes and Noble (for those of you in the states) and look for this book.

PureWebAnalytics joins MintPages
March 26, 2007
If you haven’t noticed the MintPages icon on the right hand side of this page you may have asked “what is this all about?” MintPages is a community of developers and designers that come together in a community-type setting to discuss Design and Development issues. I thought that having PureWebAnalytics being a part of this would be a good idea both from a learning and a teaching standpoint. If you hail from MintPages and are checking out PureWebAnalytics feel free to say hello and tell me what you think.

5 Hot Reasons to list your Site with DMOZ
March 24, 2007
Many of the major search engines today give a lot of importance from having a site listed with DMOZ. Everyone from Google to Alta Vista takes their clues from DMOZ. So why is it so hot to list with DMOZ?
- Your site is reviewed by humans not robots or spiders – no worry of a bot finding your site and categorizing it wrong. The submission process is manual which leaves very little room for error.
- It is the most widely distributed database of content on the web anywhere today.
- It’s FREE – 100% percent free and the only thing it costs you is a little time to get listed
- DMOZ is picky – If you submit to DMOZ your content/site must be 100% original (No Mirror sites allowed)
- Getting listed on DMOZ means that most other search engines will find your site quickly (much faster then building a site and hoping the robots find you first)
I could probably go on a lot longer talking about this but I figure you’ve got to check out DMOZ for yourself.

Google Analytics: How to set a Goal
March 23, 2007
If you are new to the world of Analytics then you’ve probably heard of Goals and Goal Setting in Google Analytics but what does it mean? A Goal is a website page that a visitor to your site once he or she has made a purchase or completed an intended or desired action. It is the successful completion of a series of successful clicks to get the visitor to get them to go where you want them to go. Sounds simple enough right? Well that is part of good SEO with any site.
Much like life, setting goals takes a clear vision of the successful completion of the goal and the steps you took to get there. All the pages that are tagged by Google Analytics are goals and the whole collection of goals is known as a funnel. For now I’ll show you how to setup analytics to track the goals you set out for your business.
- From the Google Analytics settings page you must first click “edit”
- Select one of the four goals slots and click “edit”
- Enter the Goal’s URL
- Enter the Goal’s Name
- Turn the Goal on; you can also turn off goals if you are making changes to the site to keep from getting misrepresented data and stats collected
That is the basics of setting up a goal with Google Analytics. Easier then you thought eh?
